In life as in dance: Grace glides on blistered feet.

Delays create time to observe commuter's feet...
In this station in the financial district, there's very little variety to be seen. Most people wear black, both men and women alike, and often from head to toe - traditionally suited and booted. This leads me to conclude that conservatism is apparently alive and well in the City of London. At least in footwear.
In the space of half an hour, I took about sixty random shots. These were the most interesting feet and, strangely, seemed to pass in little clusters. The girl in the pink velour and trainers seemed the most out of place to me. I wondered what these incongruous feet were doing there. What was their story?
I think I might extend this experiment to other stations.
I wonder if the foot profile of a West End station would be significantly different? I suspect it might.
My own feet are very relieved, after carrying me miles this week in that reliable and uncomplaining way they do, to be spending most of this weekend keeping cosy in slippers or socks, propped up and at rest. I'm happy to grant them this.
Whatever you and your feet are up to, whatever they're wearing, I hope you have a great weekend!

Interesting post! I've never thought of the idea of different shoes being found at different stations. I like your purple shoes a lot and I'm a bit jealous as I can't walk without looking like a duck in such shoes.
Have a restful weekend. I'm taking a break from cleaning the balconies at the moment.
You should turn this into a project and invite people from everywhere to send in their own collages of pics to compare around the world! I think it would make an incredible show!
what a wonderful way to capture the waiting, the moving, the going ... these are great!
Love your shoes-that is you isn't it? Great idea to get people's feet. Shoes are what I stare at on the tube although I really want to stare at people's faces-but that gets you shouted at! I took a series of photos today on the escalators in John Lewis-from the top level and getting lower-so the opposite of you-tops of people's heads! Hope you have a lovely weekend in your slippers!
Ohh how I love shoes, boots and everything that goes on feet. Great post Kenda. And yes I also wonder over and over again what are people doing in this place, why are they here...?
Luuuve your shoes toomuch.
omg I LOVE this! {and the purple shoes: fabulous!} travel waits are such goldmines for imagination. someday I will tell the tale of the 'elvis lives' wheelie bag.
I love how you captured a moment in time. All those people with busy lives. How that moment will never pass again, but you cpatured it. You have a record of that moment. Ah the joy of a camera.
one of my very favorite things to do...love the mosaic you created...turned waiting into an art form
Your mosaic made me smile. What a lovely inspired subject. I love the colour of your shoes.
But of course, the little girl isn't succumbing to convention yet... and it looks like you aren't either!! Good for you!!
My feet have been attired this last week in very muddy short, plaid boots (I've been planting up at our property!!).
What a great post, have a lovely week xx
i am always struck by the different colours that people tend to wear at different places round the world (so much black and grey in some parts; a riot of bright colours in others; big florals in some and intricate embrodery in others). but have never noticed the shoes much.
I like this post. You pose an interesting question :) When I'm waiting for something, sometimes I wonder where everyone is heading, too!
