finding feathers makes me happy
I have absolutely no idea why. I just love them. And I have umpteen photographs to prove it. Beach feathers, urban feathers, forest feathers... All lovely.
I used to pick them up and bring them home, weave them into mobiles and stand them up in vases, but now I try to capture them with just a photograph. I like to see them where they lay, in context. Things make more sense to me in context. Beautiful on their own, but even more so in their space. This makes me happy.
Next week we will be celebrating that which makes us happy every day: posting Monday through Saturday, in pictures or words or both, about something or someone that lifts our hearts in happiness. I already know of several reasons why next week is going to be a very happy one for me...
To join the fun or to just sink in to all the goodness that Happy Week brings, sign up on Curious Girl Lisa's lovely blog or browse the links that will appear in her sidebar from Monday.
And I propose we start practicing today by enjoying a happy Friday! I plan to. I hope you do too!

happy is a good thing & what a perfect starting place with feathers....
Great idea :) (I actually forgot about happy week, and I am signed up, so thanks for the reminder!)
I want to say, I love your dream list on my blog, and I know those dreams will be reality for you. Thanks so much for sharing!
Your first picture is great..I really like it. I may join up on happy week....if I can make myself commit to writing every day!
There is something so special about feathers. When 1 comes floating by it almost feels like a blessing. The last significant feather I found was from a wood owl. We had heard an owl around our house for a few nights and then when we walked up to the top of the garden, we found one of his feathers. Unfortunately since we felled all those exotic camphors, the wood owl is not heard nearly as much!
Happy week sounds like a lovely idea!
The feather photos will make a wonderful series. It's such a great idea taking photos of them as you find them.
HAPPY! Happy is easy! Unless some weirdo does the "happy week" with weirdo happiness like "it makes me happy to see kittens made into mittens"... that sort...it could be entertaining.
Feathers are always such a nice find, I find. I intentionally go to places where there will be feathers- Hovander farm is one where sometimes a peacock or a guinea hen will allow one or two to drop- I put them in my hat.
Dream on, my Beauty!
Exquisite pictures. I love the textures in the top photograph.
always good to celebrate happiness - especially for no reason at all!
Don't laugh at me but I love feathers because they make me think of angels. I do have a bit of a thing about angels, especially since my grandfather told me about his very visual and clear belief in guardian angels. And speaking of angels here is one of my favorite quotes (you probably know it already!): "Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly." ~ GK Chesterfield. Writing you an email shortly. Hugs, Kxo
This sounds like a very good idea! I like feathers-the practical and beautiful combined.
OMG, another feather lover. I don't feel quite so alone now. Except that I do put mine in pretty wooden boxes along with various other treasures. Lovely blog you have here.
