Phew, it's Friday! Have you ever had one of those working weeks that are shorter than usual but actually felt longer? This was one of those for me - only four days but it's felt like a fortnight. At least.
Perhaps because my work role involves plenty of engagement with people, more and more I seem to crave quiet, even solitary, time at the weekends. I recognise that I have slightly reclusive tendencies and have to be careful not to withdraw completely from the real world but I think in the interests of maintaining balance, it's not too weird to want to be alone when I have the option to be, is it? This week it'll have been especially full-on with a 9-5 workshop every day, including today, for between 20 and 30 participants, with all the prep and follow-up attendant on those. Interesting and intensely interactive, yes. And draining. Yes. So this weekend I'm mostly looking forwards to turning inwards...
On my list of lovely things to do:
- Curl up on my sofa to enjoy this book
- Go for a leisurely wander with my camera along this canal
- Meet a friend who I haven't seen for ages and who's visiting from London for a few hours to share lunch, have a girlie catch up chat, and see this exhibition
- Return to curl up on my sofa and watch this movie
- Shop for pretty shoes to go with this dress
- Dream about my overnight break in two weeks' time to this beach
Yeah there'll be a few chores to tackle as well but who wants to dwell on those? And perhaps I'll just leave the dust bunnies to play and multiply in peace this weekend. After all, they probably deserve a bit of a break too?
Whatever you're up to, I hope you have some restorative time just for you planned in.
Happy Friday Lovelies!

Hello Kendalee, I'll take the
book, the dress and the beach.
I can relate, working with people
and talking/listening all day, it
is easy for me to give into my
hermit leanings.
Happy Friday!
I know just what you mean about reclusive tendencies and finding a balance. Your weekend sounds full of delights to bouy you up after your busy week! Birmingham is great. I remember going through the canal basin on holiday in the 70s. It has changed so much since then. I think I like both versions!
I love the dresses too!
Wish you a wonderful full weekend. And find a spot inbetween to take a 'Painted-Lady-moment'. Love the dress (again)like the second shoes the best, wanna see that movie too, and that beach...fantastic. Mind if I join you? If only I could, just hop over... Have a great one.
Being in the same line of work as you, I am able to fully relate to just how draining those workshops can be! Enjoy the curl up, me time. It is restorative for any soul. I'm looking forward to the photos from along the canal.
Being by yourself isn't being reclusive - it's spending time with your best friend! The fact that you like spending time with You is beautiful.
Your weekend sounds lovely - enjoy!
It sounds like a good weekend is planned - books and movies - perfect! Relax, and let the dust bunnies be - they are probably still hunting for easter eggs under your bed ...
i'm with you! when i've been around people for a long time, i just want to be alone. enjoy your restorative time :)
Really beautiful posting!!!
Very cool! Have a nice weekend!!!
I went to the book link and read all that they allowed as a teaser- sounds like the perfect read to take with me next week. Tenby may be my next yearning...having read the book "BEES" and not thinking much of it I did not see the film when it came to town for a total of two evenings- was not a success, but for a cosy afternoon of mindless comfort, tea, toast, it might be just the ticket.I love being alone, without time, without demands- essential for well being. Disconnect and enjoy the quiet- your spirit will be so grateful! LOVExxxooo
what a window into your happy moments to come this weekend....relish them!
Cynthia - it's strange how many quite introverted people work in fields where lots of interaction's required. I wonder why that is?
Sarah - We're seeing some holiday boats come through already, which is lovely. And I'd love to have seen what these canals were like when they were still industrial working waterways before our time... Interesting! It's a city with character that's for sure.
Dagmar - I'll be sure to think of you when I'm walking on the beach and that way you'll be there in spirit if not in body!
Claire - it's a good kind of drained but still drained, isn't it? I'll to carry to capture something of the canals to share...
Beverly - nice way to think of it!
Anairam - I think you're right and I'd hate to disturb that activity - it'd just be cruel!
Aimee - Much needed. Thank you, I will!
David - kind words, thank you!
Linda Sue - that's exactly what I have in mind with bees - not very challenging to go well with tea and toast, so something related to honey seems about right! Hope you enjoy the book. I loved the first paragraph - that's what sold me on it. And dare I admit it? The cover...
ELK - thank you, I plan to! :o)
this sounds like a perfect weekend to me! rest and enjoy friend.
Enjoy the weekend. hope it is restful.
Hi beautiful! I do share the reclusive tendencies too...we must seek the balance, that's the difficult part I think... love the curling up part...wear comfy-plush socks ok... ~XO*
Hope you're having a very nice week end, Kendalee and somewhat relaxing !
that is..after solving the shoes issue..
the dress is gorgeous !
i watched the movie trailer and felt quite drawn to it..Now i want to see it too !

This sounds lovely. I could use some time to be a recluse...I've had a great weekend, but it's been busy and I am needing some time to myself.
I hope you get some time to just be.
Sounds good to me.
I like the look of the book.
I understand perfectly. Alone time is the best way to connect with your spirit and restore the balance after the constant buzz of people around you. Hope you had a good weekend.....and now another one is upon us.
