Maybe this will be the week that things start to slow down at work? I hope so 'cause I only have about three day's worth left in me and I still have five days to get through.
The good news is that we have had more beautiful fluffy snow over the past few weeks than I've ever experienced in my life and it's gorgeous. This weekend brought a fresh fall... lots of it. Very pretty.
It does bring the whole country to a standstill though, which I find somewhat amusing (the whining needs to be experienced to be believed) and somewhat infuriating (honestly, it's not as if it never happens and yet we're always caught so unprepared). The sad thing is that it makes travelling for those who need to (like me) a real mission and even basic services like post and gas supplies are affected. They reckon that millions of Christmas deliveries are backlogged and are going to fail to arrive in time and people in more remote areas are having to go without heat - neither of which is funny or I think truly acceptable in a first world country.
Other than that, I'd rather just enjoy what there is to enjoy about it. The whining and whinging I hear all around me doesn't prevent it, or make it go away any faster, so I reckon we should just surrender to the snowlove!
My plan for the next few days is to layer up, walk out, and keep going until I can stop and hunker down properly over the holiday. With perhaps a pause or two to take a photograph or make a snowball in-between.
I hope holiday preparations in the virtual and real worlds are going well. I may get a chance to swing by and see for myself soon. That is, if this is indeed the week that things start to slow down... or I get snowed in.
Otherwise, it'll have to wait 'til next week.
Either way, sending a lot of ♡♥♡♥♡ out into the ether... with a little ❄*❄*❄ attached!

Yay! Been missing you here! The snow looks lovely and if we were there we would definitely be enjoying it with you :o) Lovely pics and feels Christmassy! love xxx
I love it! The only slight moaning I have done was yesterday and that was out of fear of driving. It snowed a lot this morning and I hope for more tomorrow. I stayed in and worked this afternoon but tomorrow I want to walk to Greenwich. I hope you get through your last few days ok and have a really restful few days after that!
so unusual for your part of the world.. these photos really embrace the beauty!!
Your photos make winter look most inviting! Sorry the travel is difficult. I think I understand. Stay warm, be safe and keep taking and posting those masterpieces.
oh how i love that church picture. it's beautiful. and all that snow looks wonderful. we finally got lots of snow over a few days this past week and i'm lovin' it. stay warm. have a great night~
I suppose I'm one of the whiney whiners. I need people to buy my jewellery on an outdoor craft market in December. I rely on my sales during this month to see me through to March. They are down to 40% of their normal levels. I packed up my stall in a blizzard last night.
The same happened last year with the big freeze during the second half of December. I cannot afford for this to happen another year.
It must be nice to have a secure job that pays you whether you turn up or not.
ah, to be snowed in so completely that getting to work is not only impossible but outright forbidden by one's own employer. Nothing better than a guilt free snow day. Wishing for one of these myself as well. Stay warm and if you must travel, be safe Kenda!
so pretty! great photos!
i agree with the unbelievable collective whining that goes a snow event...i'm always interested how people are caught "unawares".
enjoy the beautiful silence of your snow.
Sue, your concern is precisely the sort of thing that does not count as whining! As someone who was self-employed for many years, I can completely relate and I do count myself lucky to have a job that covers holidays, sickness and snow days - one of the reasons I've moved back into full-time employment for the moment. You have legitimate reason to be disgruntled and the fact that the whole country grinds to a halt when there's a bit of snow (especially relative to what other countries take in their stride) and affects people in your position is the sort of thing that makes me as irritated as the next person. The sort of whining I'm referring to is the kind that has no good reason from people who are more concerned that they will be forced to wear a coat over their Christmas dress and spoil their "look", or that they had to allow an extra ten minutes to travel the three miles they come to work (yes, seriously!) than that they are not going to be able to pay their mortgage or that people all over the country may not make it home to be with their loved ones for the holidays. These silly conversations have filled hours and hours of airtime at our office - all preceded with "I hate the snow...". That's what I call whining!
Thanks Kenda, sorry I sounded so cross, I'm a bit over-sensitive as things are quite bad at the moment. I'm so used to self-employment and being my own boss, I'm quite worried that I'm now unemployable! I will get my jolly back shortly. I do appreciate the wonder and beauty that snow brings to the landscape, I just wish it would wait til January! Apologies again for being a grump and polluting your lovely blog :-)
No need to apologise Sue - I'm happy that you feel comfortable enough to share your thoughts here, whatever they are. I'm often quite grumpy in this space myself because it's a safe place to vent. Grump away! :) And I'll have fingers crossed for a few brilliant sales days for you!
The snow there certainly makes it gorgeous! I am sneezing a lot either because it is five o'clock or because I am some what allergic to snow...
Hi Sis, been missing you in blog-land (and in real-land too!). Beautiful pictures, I'm glad you're enjoying it. Hope you don't have too much work left to do this week. I was supposed to work on Christmas day but I told them I'm not going to. Love you xo
Hope you are making lots of snow angels...
Yes - enjoy, enjoy! And please send some my way.
