Four great reasons to celebrate today!

It's no secret amongst those who know me, that February is my least favourite month.

But February the 8th, today, is one of my very favourite days of the year. It brought me four of the loveliest people I know: my much loved youngest brother who has inhabited one of the closest chambers of my heart for all of his life and is one of the people I most admire in the world; one of my dearest friends, whose gentle strength, warm compassion and fresh wit have in equal measure kept me sane, comforted and laughing for over twenty years; and finally, two of my lovely colleagues, both of whom I count also as friends and who make every working day we share better, even a pleasure, for their being part of it.

Four. What are the chances? The special people in my life feature in relatively small numbers so this is an extremely high proportion. Four in the same month is unusual, but four on the same day... amazing.

So today, on their Birthday, the day I get to celebrate and thank them for being part of my life, I'll be sending out wishes - some to desks near mine, some to an adjacent principality, and some across the equator to a country by the sea - for fun and frolics, for cupcakes with candles, and for wishes come true. With love.
