I must go down to the sea again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
John Masefield
(1878-1967)
My soul is full of longing
For the secret of the sea,
And the heart of the great ocean
Sends a thrilling pulse through me.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
(1807-1882)
I leave later today to welcome a special full moon and the new year in tomorrow, on a beach, in the company of friends. Very exciting. After all the quiet round here, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to leave work behind again for a few days and to enjoying some conversation and companionship. And of course, a little celebration.
It snowed again overnight though - quite heavily for these parts - so I'm hoping travel arrangements aren't too disrupted and my flight makes it off the ground. Fingers and toes crossed.

there is nothing as relaxing as the beach. enjoy your celebrations.
your quotes reminded me of this one. I remember one day in highschool I was having a horrible week, and my English teacher (also my soccer coach) put this on the board:
"Whenever I find myself...
growing grim about the mouth whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my
soul;
whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing
before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the
rear of every funeral I meet;
and especially whenever my hypos get such an
upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral
principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping
into the street, and methodically knocking people's
hats off;
then, I account it high time to get to
sea as soon as I can"
From Moby Dick, of course:)I copied it down and never forgot it. Enjoy your trip!1
Oh, I love those quotes..I'm at the beach now. : )
I enjoy your blog; happy New Year.
hope you have a fantastic time! xx
Have a wonderful time enjoying the Blue Moon! The forecast here is for clouds so please enjoy a little for those of us clouded in for the event! The next Blue Moon is, like, 2028...or some such nonsense. Enjoy! Toast to the moon, your friends and make Happy Memories!
I love an ocean view...the smell of the salt air, the feel of the breeze off the water. That image draws you in, makes you want to be there, live in that house, count your blessings with every ebb of the tide.
Enjoy your beach time to the fullest.
I love the beach. We went this summer and I've been aching to go back since.
