Twin propellors and, true to the spirit of our Puffin guardian and thanks to extremely strong gusty winds, not the most graceful of take-offs or landings I've every enjoyed but, once airborne, a very comfortable flight.

In-flight entertainment. The journey's just long enough to catch up on island news before arriving. Apparently petrol went up by 6 pence a litre on Friday; the Christmas lights are to be switched on next Saturday by Santa and the seven year-old winner of a competition, who knew the names of all his reindeer; and Mr J. Smith admitted in court to parking too long in a restricted zone and agreed to pay the fine...

Always reassuring to know when one's crossing open seas. I realised when I took this photograph that this is an image that's settled deep in my memory banks, since I took my first unaccompanied flight at the age of five, and have been flying ever since. It never loses its thrill for me, flying. I love it.

One of very few short-haul budget services that still offers complimentary refreshments along with the newspaper, delivered by friendly onboard staff... I like that. Tea in a styrofoam cup but served with a smile, in the glow of a sun-filled cabin - definitely signals the start of an adventure. And that always makes me deeply happy.

A view that's a harbinger of the weekend's weather... brief bursts of cheerful sunshine between more sombre doses of heavy, wintry rain and persistent gale-force winds. I love the changing weather moods, and how they're reflected in the sea and sky. There was plenty of opportunity to enjoy both and I'll share some more pictures as the week progresses but, in the meantime, it's back to work for me this morning and it remains to only to leave wishes for a very happy Monday!

Hi there, hope you had a warm and cozy weekend.
i enjoy flying too. but not so much the little planes that seem to wobble dangerously during take off and landing. enjoy your weekend
I love flying, too. Like Kamana, not the little planes, though.
Have a lovely week.
mmm, embarking on an adventure. It is so exciting!! I also love the energy in airports. There are so many great reunions and sorrowful departures taking place all at once. It is a very emotional place1
Have a GREAT time away from the stress stuff!!
What is it about the warm mushy feeling that comes over me when I see different light out of an aeroplane window. It seems super magical, and special. I'm a bit scared of flying so sometimes when I see really pretty light out the window it reminds me of a power greater than myself and I relax for a tiny little bit. Have fun.
What a refreshing break! Yes flying excites me too! Even going to the airport is fun for me!
Thanks for sharing!
Have a great week,
Five, that seems very young to take your first flight alone. But it obviously didn't put you off. Bet you had great break.
Love the bits from the local newspaper. Bet Mr. J. Smith would get quite a kick to know his lengthy parking stint got international attention!
