Spirit of the Horse

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.
John Muir
(1838-1914)

The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit, and fire.
Sharon Ralls Lemon

I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order.
John Burroughs
(1837-1917)

Don't you love horse eyelashes, soft nuzzly breath, and the way a newborn foal can stand for a day under his mother's belly before he gets too tall?

I think horses are a lot like cats, they have that same fluid muscular mysticness. Only horses can't sit on you lap.
I like the way you got his eyelashes in the profile one.

Beautiful horse pictures. I have never been on a horse, they always look so monstrously big and frighten me a bit. And when you give them an apple or something those huge teeth give me a bit of a jolt and I pull my hand away every time. But they are beautiful. I will admire them from afar ...

Such beautiful photos, Kendalee. They reconnect me with the feeling I had for horses -- still have -- for over 40+ years. Although I am "horseless" now, that magical, earthy, powerful, spirited feeling still beckons. And my favorite spot on a horse? The sweet soft skin right below their nostril and to the side of their mouth! Heaven!
