Into the blue...

I went in for these...

And came out with these...

Fatigue and deadline pressures can apparently do strange things to a person.

I went in to buy black. Not necessarily these but I need a pair of neutral, comfy, wear-them-with-anything-that's-not-glamorous, not-another-knee-length-boot-'cause-winter's-nearly-over flats to mooch around in. I came out with a pair of blue, satin-finish, spot-them-from-a-mile-away, Dorothy-would-have-worn-them-if-she-didn't-have-ruby pumps.

They're not my usual style - would seldom go for something so girly - but they are very comfy and look quite sweet with a pair of workaday trousers so I can absorb the style change quite readily. It's the metallic sheen finish and that colour that're the real shock.

I don't really wear blue. I wear a lot of neutrals. I wear a lot of autumnal colours. Purple, yes. Teal, yes. Turquoise, yes. Blue. No.

And it's not that I'm scared of colour in a shoe. In fact I love a colourful shoe and I have several pairs in red. But blue? BRIGHT blue. No. Shiny bright blue. No.

I just don't know what came over me.

Rocket Dogs are very comfy and I don't have anything against it. Blue, that is. Except perhaps in a mood or a bruise. I've just found that it's so much easier to work with a small wardrobe if everything coordinates, and it's easier to do that if the palette remains small too. And blue isn't really on my palette.

Blue really wasn't on my palette. Apparently my heart felt I needed it. It wouldn't let me walk away from them. And nothing too subtle mind. BRIGHT blue is what it wanted.

I haven't taken the labels off them yet. I'm travelling to Newcastle today and then to Manchester tomorrow. If I still want to put them on and dance around in them when I get back, I might keep them. But would you be seen out in public with me in these? As an honest and caring friend, the best kind of shopping companion... if you'd been there, would you have let me leave the shop with them?

I'm not sure I can be seen in public with me in them. I might swap them for these instead. Also not black. But not blue.

oh my goodness, i did exactly the SAME thing last summer! I went in for a black pair of dr martins flats and came out with a SPARKLY PURPLE pair. As I drove home, I was trying to figure in my head what clothes in my wardrobe would go with my new shoes. NONE!
I returned them a few days later.
What does come over us?!

I have many pairs of black shoes. They are so, well, sensible. Do not be sensible dear kendalee, wear your bright blue shoes beautifully! (And with your hair colour, those blue shoes will look stunning!)

The shoes are cute of course they are...Tought call- keep or return...I have only had one pair of shoes that were not the safe kind (black/brown) they were YELLOW! I wore them for three years before somebody said to me,
"Oh yeah, we all thought you were wierd wearing those Daisy Duck shoes...we were right..." I have not worn cartoony shoes since, still hang onto being percieved as "wierd" however. I DO love your red collection- I think that I could do red... metalic blue, um, cute but...

I LOVE them! I once had a pair of stiletto healed, strappy sandals in just that shade of blue and my eldest daughters eyes lit up with joy every time I wore them. She called them my "happy shoes" and I WAS,happy I mean. They made me smile. Wear them and smile; they are beautiful and I agree with Anairam they will be stunning with your hair!

love it !! i mean the fact that your mind suddenly operated a twist...may be it's because of spring and you're in need of a perfect blue sky...

i remember your mentioning the red shoes...I always envied my girlfriends who could wear red shoes. I bought one pair recently but just can't wear them!

so...are you keeping your blue shoes?
:-)

I like them. I like the black ones too but they remind me of school shoes somehow. The blue ones don't. I love the little flower detail. It would probably only take a few choice items or accessories to make your wardrobe welcome blue. The blue sky of summer for one! I am going back to look at your red shoes now!

Yes, yes!!!

I saw the black and loved them, then scrolled down and saw the blue and I LOVED them! Go with the blue. Take the risk. They are so cute!

And you can work them in with just about anything. Truly. I have a pair of green shoes with a purple strap - not at all practical, but uber cute and I wear them with lots of things. I also have a pair of ruby red shoes and I can work them into almost anything too. My point is....keep them!!

Oh Kendalee, your blog name is PAINTED LADY! And keep DANCING, in your blue shoes. We have a pooring rainy day today here in Holland, the sky is awfull gray but you made me smile and put a nice bright glow on this day. You gave me the giggles. Not feeling alone when choices like these are made by others than only me. Sometimes you buy things with a special feeling. So every single time you will ware the blue shoes you will slip into this feeling. Enjoy spring and summer in your blue shoes. I'll bet they look awsome with white linnen trousers and maybe a top in the same collor as your shoes.
Still giggling,....Dagmar

Thank you all - you made me smile! I've decided to keep the mad blue shoes and enjoy wearing them, even if it is only occasionally and I risk becoming known as a cartoon character... I feel I'd be in good company! Something in me responds to them and I'm going to go with that... A little sparkle's never a bad thing, right?
