Brief journeys - Glasgow in the abstract

Home at last. I love my work and I love that it takes me to other places, where I'm able to contribute in a small way to making a difference in people's lives through the work we do (for the better, I like to hope) but now I'm tired (ready for a break over Christmas, only three working days to go) and happy to be home (with a stash of crumbly, buttery shortbread to see me through).

Of all the places I go, Scotland is one of my favourites.  This time there was a lot of rain, sleet and wind, and I didn't see much except the inside of my office during daylight hours, but the Scottish accents kept me warm.

And in the evenings... I became a bit obsessed by how everything blurred, glowed and glistened in the wet dark.

Like being inside an abstract painting.

Surreal, Lass- As close as i got to Scotland was eating a scottish egg , and drinking scotch...Oh and a Scottish boy I loved who worked in the orchard...
These lovely photos take me there- all lustery and ungrounded- like love.

Such lovely photographs, kendalee! Blurs are great - more indicative of how I usually feel than sharp, bright pictures under a midday sun ...

Oh, I love the Scottish accent, absolutely adore it! Love these photos, too, there is something about rain, darkness and light that you have captured well here. K xo

MK-truly lucky.I often don't see much of the places I go to apart from the airports, stations and offices there but still, sometimes I do, and I love that!
Linda Sue - all lustery and ungrounded - like love. I love this image! I remember feeling like that too...
Laura - mine too - without rival!
Nadia - glad you enjoyed it! I'm okay - still holding on, still not sleeping well, but looking forward to some breathing space and rest over Christmas, which will restore the balance I hope. thank you for asking :)
Anairam - I like the idea of living in blur too. It sits better with me than living with harsh, sharp edges, or in a grey space between dark and light. Blur just seems a more beautiful place to be.
Kerstin - what is it about a Scottish accent I wonder? I had a wonderful great uncle who was Scottish and I loved his accent even as a small child. Regardless of regional variations, it is my favourite, favourite accent still. I always wanted to fall in love with a Scot.
mcis - Lala, not too busy :) Am hoping more to keep it simple and wind down a bit over Christmas... Just the nice bits with none of the stress is what I'm aiming for.
Alex - I know the feeling! I've had a rather lazy weekend so far... Although there are things that need doing, I can't seem to move. Hope your shopping goes well! :
