The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
1807-1882

Woke up yesterday to rain, after a night of windy storms. Went for a wander around the village, past the churchyard to a small gallery with an exhibition of rural images, where I saw some little piggies I rather fancied. Piglets are so cute and the artist caught their perky curiosity perfectly. Not sure they'd want to come and live in my city pad though, so I left them to enjoy the mud.
Enjoyed tea, cake and friendly chat in a small cottage tearoom with bay trees at the door. Forgot to take a picture before the cake was gone but it was good - carrot and pecan with cream cheese frosting for me, pancakes with lemon and raisins for C - delicious! It was a brief but peaceful interlude of the kind that reminds one why friends and tea are a perfect combination on rainy afternoons. And then I headed back to the city...
Arrived home to this view out of my apartment window... Oh look, rain.

It rained all night and it's raining still - heavily and consistently. I'm listening to the drops click and bounce on the windows in their rainy way as my fingers click on the keys of my laptop.
But please don't think I mind. I like rainy days 'cause they make me happy to be indoors. And today, I'm perfectly happy to be indoors.

Love your pictures, as always! Especially the last one with the raindrops. Oh, the piggies are so cute! I have quite a thing for piggies, maybe because I am a messy eater too. I think they would have loved to come and live in your city pad and mess it up a little!
i love this post. the photograph outside your window is lovely it remnds me of home and almost a winter scene . I love it so.
So pretty. I absolutely love this!!!
Sounds like you had an absolutely delightful day. It's been raining a lot in Joburg too at the moment...and the most spectacular thunder and lightning storms although at times I've felt like hiding under my bed:)
isn't nice to be cosily indoors when it rains ?
Love the pic of your window!
hope your monday went nicely and smoothly..

Beautiful shots of your week end! RAIN everywhere! Got my scuba gear ready!

Hi Kendalee,
I found you via Linda Sue. Although I love where I live in the Pacific Northwest I will always miss England where I lived for 15 years (a few of those very close to the Welsh border.) So I love posts like these. And at least I have the rain now, too, to remind me ... :) I look forward to coming back here!
Take care,
Kerstin
anairam - believe me, from the mess point of view, those little piggies would be right at home in my city pad at the moment!
nadia - yes, it feels like winter is almost here. The air smells different already.
dolcechic - thank you! and thank you for popping in... :)
bronwyn - oh I LOVE those highveld storms!!! Nothing smells like African soil and hot tar after a summer rain storm. Nothing! I love it. The lightening can be scary though.
m.c.i.s. - i do love that feeling of snuggling up when it's raining - and the sound of it's so soothing. Hope your week's off to a good start too... :)
linda sue - scuba gear definitely called for!!! You too?!
lisa - cosy in, looking out, is one of my favourite things to do in the rain. I can while away HOURS that way! :)
kerstin - how lovely to meet you! I've been following your blog for a while now (both the old and now your new one) and love it! Glad to provide you with a trigger for what's obviously a good memory for you! Beautiful part of the country Wales and the border areas... I understand why you miss it. :)
Love that quote -- and the pictures are lovely!
