I hate that we've had no summer to speak of in the UK this year (again!) but now that autumn is officially here, I love that I can start to wear actual weather-appropriate clothes, without the guilt.
I spent most of summer struggling with what to wear. It was either feel constantly chilly but look like I knew that it was summer on the calendar - regardless of the temperature... or wear those warmer layers (often topped by a scarf) and feel like an alien amongst those who go out in their teeny-tiny-strappy-chiffon-and-sandal outfits because it was summer on the calendar - regardless of the temperature...
I must admit to opting for the latter approach most of the time (and that forever-feeling-like-an-alien thing can be quite depressing in itself) so it will be nice to be out now in my warmer layers. Legitimately. I hate feeling cold and I love to be able to wrap up against the chill. Warmer fabrics, lovely textures, coats, hats, boots... Bring them on!
This season I'm especially loving the rich colours and the heritage and folk trends and, although I'm not sure I can pull them all off, these are some of the looks that I'm liking:
Burberry ProrsumAnd then there are the boots! I love boots!!!
Stella McCartney
FendiAnd I wonder if there's any chance I'll be attending an event where one of these might be called for? With cashmere wraps for the cold bits, of course!

Maybe not, but a girl can dream, can't she?

Lovely roundup, I like that entire D&G collection....I would definitely be out place in the UK wearing my winter clothes in summer, there's nothing I hate more than not being warm enough....especially when your toes are cold!
Love your choices, especially the Yves Saint Laurent dress, and oh! those Oscar de la Renta pants!! I HATE being cold, and I always feel cold, so I've learnt to become immune to people's glances when I wear black tights in summer or a jersey. And I ignore comments like: "Oh, aren't you HOT in those?" although I'd love to say: "No, you dummy, I wouldn't be wearing them if I was, would I?" (But I'm much too nice ....)
I'm crazy for the plaid-mania at D&G, but I also love the swirl of color of that Matthew Williamson dress.
Yay, fall!
Thanks lovely people! So glad to have found some kindred winter-clothes-in-summer people (I like to just think of it as sensible!) and autumn/fall collection lovers. I'm heading out the door in 10 minutes - wearing my scarf - toasty warm! I do love autumn :o)
