I think I could live here if I HAD to...

And this is just the outside!

The inside is absolutely gorgeous too - wooden floors, high ceilings, bright sunlight filtered through shutters to throw shadows on white walls, light but cool... Beautiful.

Right now though, I'm just savouring the outside space - all that lush greenery and sunshine. I'm imagining curling up with a good book and a cool drink, or for a delicious afternoon siesta, on the verandah's daybed; enjoying a sunset then candlelit meal with family and friends in the outside dining room, laughter in the air; taking a midnight or early morning dip in the pool, perhaps during a rain shower...

Aah, tropical island living. I can feel the air - just the right temperature, so that I can't quite tell where I end and it begins... I can smell the air - sea and frangipani flowers and rich earth combined...

Paradise.

And did you spot the swing? Who could ask for more than that?

I know you'll be very happy here, D... And I'm happy for you. Can't wait to visit.

I LOVE a house with a big verandah - it makes such a difference to be able to take your living space outdoors as well. Lucky D! (Where is this beautiful tropical home?)

karina - it really is one of those places that defines an paradise for me. And next year we are going to celebrate a wedding here - perfect!
linda sue - i love that thought too, that somewhere in the world the sun is shining! glad you enjoyed this little glimpse of it too :)
karen - i agree, how could one NOT be relaxed in that space?! It just oozes calm, doesn't it?
anairam - i'm especially envious of the verandah at the moment as my little apartment has no outside space at all. mind you, the climate here doesn't call for much time lounging outdoors. i've always fancied on of those old victorian colonial houses with a wrap-around verandah! this house is in Mauritius...
