Big chain hotel rooms can be so anonymous, can't they? I find that at first glance they can be quite boring. Nothing offends. But nothing really captures my attention either. That's how they need to be. To cater to the majority, colour schemes are kept neutral and decor quite simple. And that's not a bad thing. I like neutral. But I don't like boring. How does one achieve the former, without the latter?
I think the difference is in the details. I love the use of texture here.
Patterned silk, ostrich leather, snake skin, suede, chrome and wood grain. Perhaps not the most obvious combination. But I think it works. Do you?

Mmmm, it looks quite elegant! But I know what you mean about hotel rooms, not that I've been in many. Also, even when the decor is okay, they always seem so pristine and UNhomely. I prefer guesthouses on the whole.
I agree completely! I love the luxurious bathrooms in places like this, but the rooms are not what one would call comfy and I always feel a little awkward when staying in one. But then better this than some of the grottier hotels my job takes me to!
