Clouds and Cranes

This one's for Anairam over at fra(a)iing who has a self-confessed thing for photographing cranes that I completely understand, and that came to mind on my walk home yesterday...

I was enjoying the cloudscapes - something that I have a bit of a thing for photographing - and then suddenly I was looking at these huge cranes against them. They are enormous and so solid against the sky and yet strangely spindly and graceful too. I felt compelled to photograph both clouds and cranes, and I think they work well together, don't you?

Oh beautiful! I especially love the last one, it looks like a person with outstretched arms looking downward. Actually, it reminds me of a crucifixion ...

I've always wanted to go up in a crane to see what it's like. Great pics!

anairam - yes, i can see what you mean and that's my favourite of the three pics too. I was standing almost right underneath it and it felt HUGE! I don't think the picture really captures the scale that well - it's incredible!
Thanks bronwyn and you're MUCH braver than i am! I'd love to BE up there and enjoy the no-doubt amazing view but the thought of actually climbing up makes my stomach flutter with fear. :o)
