Inspired by this idea of a one-sentence journal over at The Happiness Project, I decided to start keeping a mini visual journal. Nothing onerous, nothing too daunting. Something that will take no more that an hour to do. My idea is that I will keep the format really small (the book is 5x5) and that I will mostly collage the images (although I apparently can't resist the urge to dab a little paint every now and then). The journalling will be tucked away and kept brief. This is all part of my campaign to incorporate more visual creativity into my everyday and I'm quite enjoying it so far. Here are some of the pages...

I find it works for me to restrict this by size and time. It helps me focus and I hope it means I'm less likely to abandon the project.
So far, so good!

This is lovely! How did you do the blue bits on the island pages, if I may ask?
Hi anairam, thank you! I did the blue bits by using low tac masking tape to mask off the shapes and then used the scourer on one of those ordinary kitchen sponge/scourer thingies to dab on the blue paint - the scourer side because it was a bit more textured. I just used quite watered down acrylic paint - more than one layer - and when it was completely dry, I peeled off the masking tape. Et voila! I wasn't sure how it'd turn out but I was quite pleased with it. And very, very easy. :o)
