I've just won the lottery!

And let me tell you, I won BIG. Life and lifestyle changing amounts.

Well, ok if you want to be literal, I didn't actually win in any sense that my bank balance is going to show. But in my imagination I won. And it's nearly as good as really winning. Nearly.

When I visualise my perfect lifestyle it invariably includes some variation on this...

1. books = bliss., 2. Calla lilies, 3. My toes in the sand, 4. Sunday afternoon

Lots of books (including the luxury of time to read them all and to write my own); fresh, fragrant flowers (always); daily walks on the beach (the assumption being that I will be living right on a beach somewhere warm and beautiful), and cosy time spent chatting with friends over cups of tea (or glasses of wine, depending on the time of day and occasion). Nothing too elaborate really. A life of simple pleasures. And one I believe I might one day quite soon achieve.

But Saturdays are lottery days in the UK and, although I almost never buy a lottery ticket, the thought of winning millions of £££s allows me to dream a little bigger.

So let's imagine that last night I won the lottery, ok? I love to dream about what I would do with the winnings. Such fun. Apart from going on the biggest prezzie-buying-spree you can imagine for the people I love, and giving a huge chunk of cash to my favourite charities, I would also enjoying spending a bit to change my life. The same essential elements would appear, but perhaps a little more ambitiously sketched.

Instead of a pile of books, a whole library. Something like this gorgeous room...

Or perhaps something along these lines? Double volume shelves. Only about £50,000s worth... Although perhaps a little too formal for me.

Or how about this? A writing house at the bottom of my garden. Oh yeah!

writing house

And speaking of my garden... I would still have fresh flowers inside but I'd probably extend the range, and I'd definitely like a garden. Nothing huge, just enough for a small lake, maybe a stream burbling through it, trees big enough for a tree house or a tea house on stilts...

1. Japanese style garden, 2. Joanna Carter door flowers, 3.
Terunobu Fujimori too-high tea house,
4. brief garden sri lanka

And there'd definitely be a swing...

Can you see how this dream can grow? And every time I imagine my new luxuriouslotterylifestyle the details vary slightly.

One thing that always stays the same though is my ultimate dream location. A place that allows for all the rest and more. To live here...

And if I can't afford to buy the place, we'll just go and stay for a while... What do you think? Wanna join me?
