Thankfulness, every day - Sixteen

Today I'm grateful for an unexpectedly early finish, which resulted in a delicious unplanned hour on my sofa, reading a magazine and some catalogues, with a cup of tea, waiting for my evening to begin. There's the prospect of a lovely dinner ahead (cooked for me) and a movie (also enjoyed from the comfort of the sofa) but in the meantime, there was just that quiet hour, alone.

I honestly can't remember the last time I did this, aimless flicking and sipping - with nothing else I should have been doing, nothing else going through my head but, "oooh, that's pretty!"

What a sense of luxury there can be in a bubble of time spent in perfect, unremarkable, solitude.

I know exactly what you mean! I started work two hours later today and I've been smiling all day long.
And I have a golden rule for such unexpected free time: it's always 'me' time; I never ever do chores or errands.
Have a great weekend!

Dinner made for you- such a treat! My husband's idea of making dinner is to boil hot dogs...um, no thanks.

I just love doing that, the "aimless flicking and sipping"(well said!). With, like you said, "oooh, that's pretty!" in my head. I need to do more of that. Lovely, lovely. This is something to be thankful for!
