Brief journeys - an afternoon wander through a small English village

If you can spend a perfectly useless afternoon in a perfectly useless manner, you have learned how to live.

Beautiful. I mean, really. Beautiful.

I'm so envious... we have nothing at all like that here to wander through. You can just feel the lives of those who have passed through for eons.

These photos look like you were really in the moment, with each of them. I love how clean the waterways appear. And that leaf caught in the flow of water....

Whenever I see transient things like a leaf flowing in a river I always marvel at how, for that one instant, I was the only one in the world to have captured that moment. I love that I get to share your leaf moment.

there is such peace in these images, and I hope the feeling stayed with you for the rest of the day.

I was thinking of you this evening, when I spoke with my friend who lost her sister very suddenly yesterday. Words utterly failed me, but I think (hope) she felt me there by her side.

Every photo is a masterpiece. I especially like the backlit leaves and rays of sun in the last pic. Best wishes to you over there on the other side of the ocean.

I'm still amazed at your ability to take such gorgeous photos and match them up with words that seem to go with them so well.

I love the lichen art and the bow wow - I might carve that out on our garden wall for Snous, who has recently discovered that she has a VOICE (can a dog have a voice? well, anyway ...) and that she can use it - all the time, incessantly, bow wow wow bow wow.

I forgot to leave a comment the last time I visited to say how much I enjoyed these photos. They do evoke Englishness.

Beautiful pictures. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I had forgotten weekends peeping into villages just like this when I was living in England.
