Brief journeys - London, form and function

Natural History Museum
December 2009

One of my favourite buildings in all the world - for its unabashed architectural overthetopness, which makes me feel like I've stepped into an M.C. Escher print; for its incredible warmth and texture and the detail on every surface; for the fabulous exhibitions, permanent and temporary; for the rich historical patina, and the crowds of curious children who fill the place with an atmosphere that defies description. I love it.

If you're interested, read more about its history here, see a few more of the gazillion photographs I took on my last visit here (although my eye and my little point and shoot camera don't do it justice at all really), when I went to see this photographic exhibition - one of the highlights of every year for me. But mostly, if you've never been, and find you have the opportunity to, do. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I never am, no matter how often I visit.

A masterpiece of form and function.

Oh wow Kenda, you've captured it beautifully. I always sinck into the thoughts of who worked on it, wich hand made this or that? Who was the person behind this special feature? If only these walls could speak...
Thank you for taking me along. My heart is full and warm now I've seen these warm colorful pictures.

Amazing everything. Such fine detail and superb architecture. Some day I will make it across the Atlantic. I will put London's Naturla History Museum on my itinerary. My part of the United States has NOTHING that comes close to such a place. Thanks.

Oh, so beautiful. Oneof the places on my "see before I die" list - London is a magical place, in my imagination. Of course, we just went to see the film Sherlock Holmes, which does not paint London in such a beautiful light!:)
