I'm on the road this week. A lot. Or, I should say, on the rails because I generally travel by train. Yesterday involved 7 and a half hours on a train (there and back combined) for a 2 hour meeting. It was a meeting that needed to happen face-to-face so I didn't mind making the journey (and the thing I like about train travel is that I can work, or read, or write, or eat en route, not to mention take in the scenery and listen to music) but it can make for a very long day. Amazing how, for something relatively passive, travelling like this can be quite tiring. The meeting went well though, so well worth the trip.
When I was lying in bed last night, mulling over the day as I am wont to do, the thing that stood out in my mind as the most memorable, most exciting thing about it, was my lunch - a delicious, spicy, chicken noodle salad with sesame seeds and fresh lime (one of my very favourite flavours). Is that just sad?
It was exceptionally yummy though.
I wonder what delights today's journey will bring?

I can't believe you travelled 7 hours for a 2 hour meeting...I hope your travel-time was paid for!! I think I would like train travel too...can you get motion sickness on a train? I can't read 1 paragraph in a car without feeling sick.
Your lunch does look good...what did the people around you do when you took pictures of it before you ate it? I can just see it!
Mmm yum! Maybe today it will be a smoked chicken, avo, mustard mayo and sesame seed wrap .... It's what I feel like anyway :-)
Sounds very yummy.
I know what you mean about travelling. I sometimes find I am wiped out after travelling.
Oh I do hope that the meeting was indeed worth it- though travel by train always settles me in...grew up on them so it is like being rocked in mother's arms and lulled by the steady clack clack clack. Most trains, mind you, the one's in italy not so much...I am curious to know about the outcome of your meeting, and if they bought you that yummy lunch, which they should have...After all it is nearly your birthday and they should have known!
xxxooo
i adore train travel for just the reasons you mentioned! unfortunately it's not a big part of our transportation infrastructure here in the states - it's either driving or flying for us. your lunch looks fabulous - now you'll never forget how good it was. nothing sad about that!
Oh sorr Kenda I just had the giggles about what my cousin Joyce writes....man she things about the most weird things...like what people might have thought about you taking pics of your food...well maybe she has a point here....I'm still laughing and my son is asking what is wrong...
Okay back to your post. Love the food, look jummy to me too. Wanna lik the screen almost...
See you around.
You can NEVER underestimate the joy that the most simple of things can bring to a day. It looks like it was delicious!
kismet again...I was just dreaming of taking the train from london to paris for a weekend in may.
I don't think it is sad at all! Often the high point of my day is an exceptional meal. Or brownie. Or piece of chocolate. Or the perfect bowl of muesli. Or a ripe mango. We are just honest about it!
I am starving right now and this is not helping me...at all! :)
Wishing you all the best, lovely.
Hee Hee - of course the food! Train travel is still exciting for me living here where it isn't a normal form of travel, but I'm sure you get a bit tired of it. And yes, a really long day of sitting.
